SHOCK FOR MESSENGER
dead body in house.
[FEB PRESS ASSOCIATION.]
GISBORNE, April 11-
A gruesome discovery was made by a telegraph messenger this afternoon when, by mistake, he entered the wrong house in one of the main streets on the outskirts of the town, to deliver a telegram.
A terrible smell pervaded the premises, and on opening the door he saw the dead body of a man dressed in pyjamas lying in the passage. Death had apparently taken place about three weeks previously. The deceased was Robert Marshall, aged 61 years, single, retired farmer, formerly of the Waimata Valley. He lived by himself, and was last seen by a neighbour on March 20. Deceased had been in delicate health for years. The relatives of deceased are: Brothers in North Auckland, Napier, Havelock, Waipukurau, and sisters at Waerengaahika and Wellington.
