YESTERDAY’S GAMES Unpleasant weather conditions prevailed for the friendly League matches played yesterday. Two games were not played, Runanga v. Brunner seniors and Rapahoe v. Runanga juniors. At Blackball, Ngahere and Blackball teams met before a poor attendance, Blackball winning by 27 points to 11. Tries for Blackball were scored by J. Anderson (2), G. Ware, R. Nester and Kinsella, J. Anderson converting the five tries and also kicking a penalty goal. For Ngahere Gilman and S. Mayne (2) scored tries, Mayne converting one. Mr. D. Faris was the reforee. Marist seniors yesterday visited Blackwater and played Waiuta, whose intention it is to enter a senior team this year. The game was even, and fast, the Marist team winning by 27 points to 20. The Waiuta junior team of last year has been strengthened by the inclusion of new players, notably Smith, who playing at centre three-quarter, scored three times, and Coulson, a prominent Marist forward last season, and the entry of a strong Waiuta team should have a beneficial effect on the senior competition.
