ALFONSO’S DAUGHTERS

MARRIAGE NOW POSSIBLE PARIS, February 18. It is learnt that the Infanta. Beatrice, the elder daughter of ex-King Alfonso, will marry hei’ cousin, Prince Alvaro' of 'Bourbon-Orleans, on July 15, at Fontainbleau. As dowry she will receive jewels worth £32,000 from the Infapta Eulalia. Her sister Christina wilj be given a similar marriage portion. Last year the ex-King withheld his consent to the match. But when the Princess declared that she would marry without her’father’s consent as soon as she attained her majority on June 22, 1931, he gave way. The couple will live in a flat at Zurich until her husband gets his engineering degree. It is also believed that ex-King Alfonso will agree to the marriage of the Prince of the Asturias (the exCrown Prince) to the Russian Grand Duchess Kyra and also to the Infanto Cristina’s marriage to Prince Alonzo de Bourbon-Orleans, brother of Prince Alvaro. He is expected to insist, however, that the marriages shall take place one at a time. The Infantas Beatrice and Cristina have completed a series of twenty injections, taken on alternate days, against the transmission of haemophilia. They must undergo these injections every hajf year for the rest of their lives, although they do not suffer from the disease themselves. — B.U.P.
