Mrs R. O. Speed left, to-day, for Wellington. '

Rev. and Mrs G. E. Brown left, today, for Dunedin.

Mr and'Mrs R. Clark, Shakespeare Street, left to-day, for Wanganui, on a holiday visit.

Mr. and Mrs A. J. Martin who are the guests of Mr. and Mrs H. Moore, will return to Dunedin on Tuesday.

The death occurred at the Reefton Hospital last evening, of Mrs E. Lloyd, an old resident of the district, 80 years of age. She was a native of County Clare, Ireland. She was married twice and leaves four sons, and' three daughters.

The Federal Government has appointed Captain C. R. Pinney as Administrator and Chief Magistrate of Norfolk Island in. succession to Mr. A. J. Bennett, whose term expires on April 30. Captain Pinney Is Commissioner of Lands and Director of Agriculture in the Territory of Papua.

The Colonial Secretary has appointed Sir William Gowers, present Governor of Uganda, as Senior Crown Agent for the Colonies, in succession to Sir Henry Lambert, who is shortly retiring. Colonel Fleming is appointed Fourth Crown Agent for the Colonies, and Engineer-in-Chief, in succession to Colonel,Sir James Carmichael, who is shortly retiring.

The death occurred on Thursday of Mr David Thomas Gibbard, at Westport. He was a native of Oxfordshire, but at an early age came with his parents to New Zealand, settling in Otago? and some thirty years ago making his home in Westport. Deceased was-a member of the Buller ; Progress League, secetary of the Foresters’ Lodge, a P.M. and /Organist of Kawatiri Masonic Lodge, Senior Clerk of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, and was also actively associated with other Societies. He leaves his widow, one son, and one daughter.
