SYDNEY BY-ELECTION. [BY CABLE —PBESB ASSN. —COPYBIGHT.] SYDNEY, February 12. Mr. E. J. Ward (the Beasley Labourite) was to-day elected for the East Sydney- seat in the House of Representatives as the result of the by-elec-tion, by 173 votes. The rowdiest scenes were in evidence at the declaration of the poll to-day. JEFFREY AND JENKINS. DARWIN, February 12. Jeffrey and Jenkins resumed their flight to-day, hoping to make quick time to Melbourne. IMPERIAL AIRWAYS. SYDNEY, February 12. Sir Walter Nicholson, the Governing Directoi’ of the Imperial Airways, Limited is aboard the liner Marama, which left here for New Zealand to-day. He said that the question of extending the air link from Karachi to Australia has been shelved for the time being, but it must come sooner or later. Financial stringency was the chief obstacle with the Australian Government. , '
