Walker, for a Coal Prospecting License over 375 acres in blocks X and XL, Reefton S.D. Objected to by John Harris. Also application for extension of time within which application for license might be disposed of. Struck out —time expired. Application for extension of time refused.’ P. Mitchell, R. Ronchi and G. B. Mclnroe, for three ordinary prospecting licenses over 100 acres, 100 acres and 65 acres respectively, all situate near Waiuta. —Adjourned. B. L. In the suit, Blackwater Mines Ltd., (Mr. Morgan) v. Reginald Hall and Thomas Thorn, junior, claim for .£lO as damages for wrongful interference with plaintiffs’ water-race. Counsel for plaintiff intimated that in view of the prosecution by the police arising out of the same circumstances and the heavy penalty that had been imposed, his client was prepared to withdraw this claim on payment of costs. Judgment for plaintiff for Court costs £l/6/and solicitors’ fee £l/1/-. Weather conditions to-day were unI comfortable. Rain began to fall Vellore mid-day and continued well into the night, 110 points being registered for the 24 hours.

The formation of a small track inside the trotting track at the racecourse is at present engaging the attention of the members of the newly formed Athletic and Cycling Club and the work is being put in hand at once. The grader is being put on to level up the surface and it is hoped to have the ground ready in a few weeks. Mrs. Purdie of Christchurch, who has been on a visit to Mrs. Instone, has returned home.
