In the Supreme Court, Constables Ambrose Charles Joseph Rush and James Claud Bratty sued Richard Greatorex, a farmer, for damages resulting from a collision near Linton in January between a motor-car driven by defendant and a motor-cycle ridden by plaintiffs. Bratty was awarded £lO3 special and £5O general damages. Rush was awarded £273 special and £3OO general damages. AUCKLAND RAILWAYS. AUCKLAND, October 31.

The reduction of the railway fares has been followed in Auckland district by a remarkable increase iin. the passenger traffic. In the last week of the old fares 16,482 tickets were issued at Auckland. The number has since rapidly increased, and last week was 27,836. Every part of the system shows an increase, but it is greatest in the suburban area. It is understood that the increase in revenue is not as great as the figures would suggest, one reason being the greater use of workers’ weekly and other cheap tickets.
