RAILWAYMEN REJECT APPEAL [BY CABLE —PBESS ASSN. —COPYBIGHT.] (Recd. October. 31, 11 a.m.) LONDON, October 30. The delegates’ conference of the National Union of Railwaymen, by 75 to 5, endorsed the executive’s .decision that Mr J. H. Thomas is. not entitled to a pension. \ Mr Thomas, accompanied by his wife, son and daughter, attended the Conference. He made an impassioned protest against the executive’s ruling. Pointing to his family in the back of the hall, he exclaimed: “After all my services to the railwaymen, why should they be’’allowed to suffer?” He contended that he had never done more on behalf of the railwaymen’s standard of living than when he threw in his lot with Mr MacDonald. The delegates listened in stony silence, and subsequently requested Mr Thomas to withdraw. They announced their decision four hours later.
