FILM STAR PAYS £165,000
OVERDUE INCOME TAX
NEW YORK, Septembei’ 11. Miss Marion Davies, the Hollywood star, whose fortune is estimated at between £2,000,000 and £3,000,000, has settled her account with the incometax authorities with a cheque for £165,000. This is a compromise payment covering a number of years. She announced this fact on her arrival in the liner Europa. The tax authorities originally demanded £200,000 on her earnings and her New York property. Miss Davies explained that there was a misunderstanding, she being under the impression that the agent who looks after her real estate was settling the income-tax demands. News.
