LEAGUE FOOTBALL. SYDNEY, October 27. The Eastern Suburbs Rugby League footballers returned by the Maunganui to-day. They describe their visit to New Zealand as wonderful, the hospitality being overwhelming, for which the manager expressed the deepest gratitude. The standard of play of the New Zealanders, he added, was much better than on the previous visit. The officials were very hard working, and were doing a great service to the League code. The gates were just fair, but the expenses were about covered. WRESTLING; WELLINGTON, October 27. Billy Meeske beat Kara Pasha this evening by a single fall, gained with a wristlock combination, in the seventh round of a professional wrestling contest that went the full distance. GREYMOUTH GOLF CLUB. The official golf season will be brought to a close on Saturday, when a mixed foursome over 13 holes, and putting and approaching competitions will be held. Play will commence at 1.30 p.m., and afternoon tea will be served at 4> o’clock. Trophies won during the year will then be presented by the President, Mr W. Meldrum■ All members and their friends are cordially invited to attend. The draw for the foursome will be published tomorrow.
