HOKITIKA BOROUGH COUNCIL. [OUR OWN COBRESPONDENT.] HOKITIKA, July 11. The Hokitika Borough Council met last evening. Present: The Mayor (Mr G. A. Perry), Crs A. R. Elcock, T. AV. Duff, E. AV. Heenan, Dr. Teichelmann, D. P. Stuart, G. Heinz, Jas. King, D. J. Evans, A. C. Armstrong.
AVm. AVilson, agent for. F. A. Thompson, submitted plan of subdivisions of Lot 1, Section 900 and Section 901, and asking for approval of subdivision. —Approved. AVm. AVilson wrote asking that the broken asphalt on footpath in front of the Hokitika Savings Bank, be repaired.—To be attended to. The Secretary, Hokitika Fire Brigade, notified that some of the fire plugs are tilted, owing to erosion and also that some indicators require repainting —To be attended to. The Chairman, Main Highways Board, wrote intimating that Highways Board is prepared to subsidise the markings of black pavements with white lines on a basis of two pounds for one pound. C. James, AVeld Street, wrote drawing attention to the unsatisfactory condition of the road of AVeld Street, between Davie and Jollie Streets, and asking that a footpath be formed to his residence. —Referred to P. AV. Committee to attend to. E. C. Orr, Fitzherbert Street, wrote asking that a footpath be formed from the frontage of her residence to Parlr M. Hatch’ Sewell Street, wrote drawing attention to water lying in front of residence, and asking that matter receive attention. —Referred to ’ the Overseer.
Thornhill Cooper, Rolleston Street, 'forwarded (1) application for permission to instal a septic tank at Section 1103, corner of Park and Rolleston ‘Streets, (2) asking for domestic water supply to Section 1103, (3) asking that Council erect a street lamp at the corner of Park and Rolleston Streets. —Septic tank approved, also domestic water supply. Matter of lamp held Over. The Secretary, Hokitika Swimming Club, wrote asking for assistance towards cost of bath expenses.—£ls granted. G. Cederman wrote concerning piping Jolley Street, near his section.— No action taken. The Borough Treasurer reported: Receipts £lOl9/0/8, payments £822 11/5, debit balance £B6l/16/0. Accounts amounting to the sum of £770/5/0 were passed for payment. The Borough Overseer reported on work carried out during the month. The Abattoir Manager reported stock slaughtered during the month of June: 38 cows, 10 heifers, 48 bullocks, 324 sheep, 25 lambs, 12 pigs, 23 calves, condemned 1 cow, 1 bullock. Fees received £7l/5/-, For similar period last year £64/9/0.
