GRANDSTAND TO BE RE-BUILT.

The Committee of the above Club met on Thursday evening. Present: Messrs W. E. Williams (chairman), 1* • McGregor, A. W. Yarrall, M. Houston, C. J. P. Sellers, J. Peake, R. Whiley, H. Newman, C. Seddon, and moved that a letter be sent to the family expressing regret and sorrow at the bereavement. The motion was carried, members standing in silence. The Westport Jockey Club forwarded a donation of £5/5/- to the funds of the Club, which was received with thanks. In connection with the appeal, it was reported that £42/13/6 had been received, and £9O promised. 'the Secretary reported the accounts for the combined meeting had not keen finalised, but the profit would not be large and not likely to exceed £BO. Although this had been disappointing, it was the best that could be done under the circumstances. It was resolved to write to the Greymouth Jockey Club and express thanks for the help given. Regarding the question of re-build-ing, Messrs Stevenson and Parry were asked to confer as to a suitable design for a stand and offices to cost ih the region of £l2OO or £l5OO, and Messrs Williams, Parry, Mclntosh and Houston were appointed a committee to confer as to insurance. A suggestion was made to build the lower portion of the building in concrete, and the cost of this would be gone into in preparing the design.
