OMOTO—SECOND DAY FULL CROP WINS STEWARDS Favoured again with good weather the Westland and Greymouth Jockey Clubs’ combined meeting, attracted a good attendance at the Omoto Racecourse to-day. From a good • start, Lady Lackham led Metal Bird, followed by Valpine, Earthquake, and Clamor. There was no change until entering the straight, where both Metal Bird and Valpine drew level with the leader, Valpine getting a run on the rails. Halfway up the straight, Valpine went ahead, and’ at the post had a two-lengths’ advantage over the favouirte, who was a neck in front of Earthquake. Clamor was fourth and Lady Lackham next.

Young, rider of Full Crop, was fined £2 for breaking through the barrier. The ultimate start was not good. Animated colliding with Full Crop. Quinola was first out, followed by Sagittarius, Full Crop and Solvear. With half the journey covered, Full Crop took the lead from Quinola, and had a good lead as they turned for home. Solvear, who had drifted back to last along the back straight, put in a run as they straightened up for home, but Full Crop was not extended to win by three lengths. A great set-to between Solvear and Quinola for second place favoured the former by a head. Animated was last.

June 6, 11 a.m.) MELBOURNE, June 5. At the Fitzroy races on May 25, a veterinary surgeon discovered that attempts had been made to administer a potion to a number of horses and ponies. The horses were ordered to be scratched. The stewards now found that A. Dalton and W. Stewart were proved to have doped two ponies. They have been warned off all Victorian Trotting and Racing Association courses. CHEAPER ADMISSION FEE. AUCKLAND, June 6. A proposal to instal a five shilling totalisator, and reduce the admission fee to the course, to one shilling, will be considered by the Auckland Trotting Club Committee. The proposal is sponsored by the President (Mr. J. Rowe) and is expected to receive strong support. Mr. Rowe considers that in the prevailing circumstances, the wartime tax, which caused the admission charges to be increased by sixpence, should be removed.
