Sir Francis Boys has been reelected President of the Canterbury Aero Club. .

Nurse H. Walker will leave for Christchurch, on annual leave, tomorrow.

Mr. A. E. Earp, Government Apiarist, arrived from Christchurch yesterday.

Miss E. Anderson of Ashburton, is on a holiday visit to Mrs Mackley, Shakespeare Street.

Mr. Chief Clerk, Railways Department arrived from Wellington yesterday, on an official visit to the West Coast.

Miss L. Hogan, who has been visiting her mother, Mrs P. Hogan, High Street, will leave to-morrow, on return to Hamilton.

Mr. T. H. Hayward, of the Greymouth Railway Office, will leave tomorrow on a holiday visit to Christchurch.

Mr. E. S. Brittenden, District Traffic Manager and Mr. H. C. Langford, Business, Agent, Railways Department, will return to Christchurch to-morrow.

Mrs Arthur and Miss A. Arthur, "who have been the guests of Mr and Mrs W. F. Diedrichs, Kokatahi, return tomorrow to Ashburton.

The engagement is announced of Alma, third daughter of Mr and Mrs A. A. Shannon, Greymouth, to Lindsay Melrose, third son of Mr and Mrs Melrose, Mosgiel.

Passengers returning to Greymouth by last evening’s express from Christchurch included Mr. and Mrs A. Johnston, Miss D. Thwaites, and Mr. J. Hansen.

A sudden heart attack, following strenuous play at a bunker, led to the collapse and death of Dr. John Henry McLean, of Wellington, on the Rotorua golf course yesterday. Medical attention was at hand, but Dr McLean died within a minute.—Press Assn.

The engagement is announced of Aroha, youngest daughter of Mr. Waiter Clifford, Fendalton, and Alf Brustad, of Hamar, Norway. Miss Clifford was the first woman member of the Canterbury Aero Club to become a pilot. She is a fully qualified ground engineer. Miss Clifford is also keenly interested in mountaineering, having achieved some of the most difficult climbs in the Mount Cook regions. Mr. Brustad, is well known among alpinists. -
