DUTIES TO BE REDUCED. > [PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, May 11. .The Government’s intention to ask Parliament to sanction a reduction in wheat and flour duties next session was announced by the Prime Minister in a statement to the “Dominion” to-day. It is proposed that from February 1, 1932, the duty on wheat shall be reduced by 1/4 per bushel, and that the duty on flour shall be reduced by £2 18s per ton. A base price of 4/8 per bushel is to be fixed for wheat, the duty on this commodity being then 9d per bushel, and a sliding scale will operate as the price varies from the base figure. The base price of floui’ is to be £l2 10s per ton, the duty being 32/per ton.
