The Reefton Golf Club has been compelled, owing to loss of balls at the links, to post notices warning all, that unauthorised persons removing balls from the ground will be prosecuted. At the Reefton Bowling Club’s green Messrs J. B. Auld and G. N. Orsbourne successfully defended the challenge of Messrs Nevin and Coxall for the Buttons, winning by a comfortable margin. The first match in the contest for the Stallard Cup will take place tomorrow between Reefton and Landing senior Rugby teams. At the Magistrate’s Court before Mr W. Meldrum, S.M., Thos. F. Flannigan v.. W. Kirwan, claim £l3/14/-, judgment for plaintiff for amount claimed, with costs £2/16/-. Found on Wilson’s Hotel after hours one offender was ordered to pay Court costs 10/-. Two others were mulcted in the same amount for being on the same premises on Anzac Day. Five offenders found on the premises /of Alborn’s Hotel, Inangahua Junction, were convicted and ordered to pay costs 12/-. W. S. Clark, licensee of the premises, pleaded guilty to selling liquor after hours and was dbnvicted and fined £2, with costs 12/-. Estate Alice Farrell, deceased, to surrender water race license No. 4025. —Recommended. New Big River Gold Mining Co. Ltd., for a certificate of protection covering nine mining privileges for a term of six months. —Recommended. Consolidated Gold Fields of N.Z. Ltd., for a special site license over 3 1-3 acres at Globe Hill. —Adjourned to May 27. E. W. V. Jones and Party for a coal prospecting license over 440 acres near Capleston. Struck out. The Blackwater Mines Ltd., for reduction of rent on three claim licenses. —Granted.
