Miss B. Cornwall left to-day, on a visit to Waitomo Caves. Mr. F. C. Wade left this mdrnifig on return to Christchurch. Nurse O’Meara was a passenger for Christchurch by to-day’s express. Mr. A. Gandell left to-day, on return to Christchurch. Mrs. A. A. Rouse left this morning on a to Christchurch. Mr. C. G. Moss left by to-day’s express, for Selwyn Huts. Mr. and Mrs. J. McCaffrey were passengers for Christchurch by to-day’s express. Mr. Lysaght, relieving bridge inspector, of the Railways Department, returned to Christchurch to-day. Miss Hazel Lawn will arrive this afternoon, on vacation from Canterbury College. Mrs Simpson, of Blackball, has reentered the Grey River Hospital, to undergo an operation. Mr. B. M. Davis was among the * passengers who left by to-day’s express. ! Dr McClymont, of Millerton, left today for Fiji. He has been succeeded . by Dr Kimbell. Mrs J. Markland left for Christchurch this morning on a visit to her daughter, Mrs E. Price.
Miss I. Jamieson, who has been on a holiday visit to Greymouth and Hokitika, returned to Christchurch to-day. Mr. W. J. Butler, of Hokitika, was a passenger for Christchurch this morning. Mr Vincent Ward, M.P., announces that, owing to business demands, he will not contest the Invercargill seat at the General Election.—Press Assn. The Mayor (Mr. J. W. Greenslade) left for Christchurch by this morning’s express, owing to the illness of brother, the Rev. W. Greenslade. Miss M. Deere, who has been on a holiday visit to Wellington, will return to Greymouth by this afternoon’s express. ■ ’ ' Mr B. R. Sword, Railways District . Traffic Manager at Dunedin, and formerly of Greymouth, is retiring on superannuation and will relinquish his duties on May 16. Mrs J/B. Hogan and Miss E. M. Hogan, of Wellington, will arrive by to-day’s express on a holiday visit, as the guests of Mr and Mrs McDiarmid, Karoro.
f Acting on medical advice, Mr. W. R. Davidson, assistant chief engineer has asked to be relieved of his duties, and will retire shortly from the railway service, which he joined in 1898. —Press'Assn.

The death occurred at her residence, last night, of the last of Crushington’s old identities, Mrs Thomas Watson, senr., aged 80, after a long illness. She was resident in the district for about sixty years, and is survived by five sons, Thomas and Andrew (Crushington), Alex (Hawke’s Bay), John (Auckland), William (Hamilton), and two daughters Mrs R. Wills (Reefton), and Miss Watson (Crushington).
Mr E- L. Kehoe was met by the members of the Grey Technical School teaching staff yesterday afternoon, and, was presented with a set of liqueur glasses and a decanter on a silver tray. The Principal, Mr J. B. Hutton, expressed their best wishes for Mr Kehoe’s future happiness. Mr Kehoe suitably responded. Mr Kehoe is to be married at St. Patrick’s Church on Tuesday, to. Miss Bena Higgins. / . '
