A message from Santa Rosa De Capan, an important Western Honduras mining, commercial and agricultuial centre, reports that the entire Federal garrison of 140 men. including _ the leader, Colonel Garcia, were killed when a much superior rebel force seized the town, following on a fierce battle, after the defenders ran out of ammunition. Refugees from Santa. Rosa stated that the major engagement in the present hostilities which began on April 20 resulted in the deaths of over 200 soldiers on both sides, as well as many civil officials and civilians, whom the insurgents massacred. The city has suffered much from looting.
