OPERA HOUSE—TO-NIGHT. A double star attraction will be screened at the Opera House to-night. Florenz Zeigfield, Mary Eaton, Eddie Cantor, Helen Morgan, and Rudy Vallee all appear in the picture “Glorifying the American Girl,” by Florenz Ziegfield, who supervises it. ’ The other star- picture is. “Way Out West,” starring William Haines. Haines is funnier than ever as a cowboy —and more than ever a fighting he-man in the end! “South Sea Love,” a silent picture, is the fare for Sunday night’s picture benefit. BLACKBALL—TO-NIGHT. “Song of My Heart” will be screened to-night and “Holiday” on Monday and .Tuesday. MONDAY. The big attraction at the 'Opera House on Monday and Tuesday, will be the all-dialogue sensational play, “Streets of Chance.” This gripping drama is said to be founded on a notorious American million-dollar poker game scandal, which cost a celebrated gambler his life, the true facts of which are said to have been suppressed at the time. GRAND PROGRAMME DANCE. The Grand Programme Dance tonight at Herb. Moore’s Cabaret promises to eclipse all previous efforts of the Mawhera Ladies’ Hockey Club. Dances to suit all are included, barn dance, fox trots, alberts, one step and Maxina waltz. Steel’s orchestra will be in attendance. •

IKAMATUA BAND RECITAL A band recital and concert in aid of the Totara Flat Church Fund, was held in the Ikamatua Public Hall last evening, the performers being members of the Civic Band, under the baton of Mr. A. McMaster and assisted by Greymouth artists. The attendance was good and the performance throughout was of a high class order. The Civic Band had the honour of being the first band to play in the Ikamatua Hall and the rendering of the various selections left nothing to be desired. Special mention should be made of the selection “Sandon” played by request. Mrs Temple and Miss Kitchingham both received encores, their songs being much appreciated, while Mr. J. Hadlund gave a fine tenor solo, “I Heard'.You Singing,” also being recalled. The elocutionary items given by Mr. T. Tarrant caused much amusement and the humorous songs given by Mr. Smith were so much appreciated that he had to return twice before the audience were satisfied. The cornet solo by Mr. Temple was an excel-

lent rendering, as was also the trombone solo by Mr. W. Sundye. Great credit is due to the accompanists, Miss D. Broad and Mrs Temple. The Chairman, Mr. Rattray, took

the opportunity of conveying to- Mr. McMasters, the Band, and to the other performers, on behalf .of the committee and the audience, appreciation of such a fine performance. He also thanked the ladies for providing refreshments for the performers. On behalf of Mr. McMasters, the Band and the performers, Mr. Tarrant thanked the audience for the reception given to the various performers.

. The programme was as follows: hymn, “Nearer My God to Thee,” band; march, “Invercargill,” band; vocal solo

“What a Wonderful World That Will Bte,” Mrs Temple, encored; operatic selection “Bohemian Girl,” band; elocution item “Simple Simon,” Mr. T.
