The following are the results of the matches played by the Makura Ladies’ Croquet Club in '' the championship singles: — Second Life. —First Round: Mrs. Hambleton beat Mrs. Fogarty. Second Round. —Mrs. Mercer beat Mrs. Coburn; Miss Hambleton beat Miss Sheedy; Mrs. Scott beat Mrs. W. Phillips; Mrs. Warnes beat Mrs. Hambleton; Mrs. Whibley beat Airs. Hannan; Mrs. Thomas beat Mrs. Smith; Mrs. Reynolds won by default from Mrs. Tennent; Mrs. Davies beat Mrs. Haglund.
Third Round. —Mrs. Mercer beat Miss Hambleton; Airs. Scott beat Mrs. Warnes; Airs. VTiibley beat Mrs. Thomas; Airs. Davies won by default from Mrs. Reynolds. Semi-final. —'Mrs. Mercer beat Mrs. Scott; Mrs. Davies beat Mrs. Whibley. The final in this life will be played betwen Mrs. Mercer and Airs. Davies next week.
The semi-final in the first life will also be played next week. On Tuesday the Westport ladies will visit Greymouth, and play the Makura Club in a friendly match. The Reefton ladies will visit Greymouth on Wednesday next and participate in competitions and games.
