REEFTON, February 28. Mr W. Cameron, late of Ellis’ training stables has taken over the training of Mr E. 'W. Spencer’s horses Jael and Smithereens. Miss Ethel Wright, daughter ot Mi and Mrs J. Wright, Cronadun, accompanied by Miss Kelly, of Christchurch, is on a holiday visit to Reefton. Mr W. Prentice o£ the- National Bank staff, returned from Nelson on Thursday. The following have been selected to represent Reefton Cricket Club against Granity:— J. Lawson, T. Hepburn, R. Hill, Jas. Slattery, P. Scott, N. Wood, J. Hannah, S. Hunt, W. Blom, P. D. Campbell, F. Bonifacio, S. Griggs. « Messrs T. Dellaca and J. Slattery, who have been on a visit to Maruia /Springs, returned home last evening. The following further business was transacted at the monthly meeting ot the Inangahua County Council: It was resolved that the Council resolve itself into an Earthquake Relief Committee, and that all schemes in connection with the amalgamation of the fund first receive the sanction oi the Council, and that Mr W. B. Auld (County Clerk) be appointed treasurer to the fund. ■ The Public Works Department is to bo ’asked if it will furnish thejlouncil with a plan,for Marr’s bridge. dTie overseer was authorised to remove shed in Davis Street and erect same in Council’s yard for an engine shed. It was recommended to the Unemployment Board that the Council be empowered to engage unemployed on Government grants, also that Reeiton be constituted a separate registration district under tho unemployment scheme.

Or. Blackadder tabled a list of works on which he considered unemployed men could be engaged—l, Springs Junction Post Office road; 2, road to Nelson’s; 3, Huner’s road; 4, Lester’s Road.

Cr. Archer moved and Cr. Watson seconded, that immediate steps be taken to have a special rate strupk to cover the cost of street lighting in Reefton. The motion was allowed to stand over until the next meeting. The Chairman moved, Cr. Blackadder seconded and it was carried, that the rate on occupation license No. 206 in the name of T. R. Watson, which has been cancelled, be treated as irrecoverable.
