HOKITIKA, January 24. At a meeting of the Lake Kanieri Boat Club, held last evening in McIntosh’s Club Room, Mr Radford presided over an attendance of thirteen members.

Mr J. N. Robinson was selected as a delegate to represent the Club at a conference to be held in Christchurch for the purpose of forming a Controlling Body for the Dominion of outboard boat racing. Mr Robinson will be given a free hand, Mr Eric Park was appointed a substitute in case Mr Robinson is unable to attend. It is expected the proposed governing body will popularize the sport and facilitate ’ the awarding of championships for outboard racing. The question of finance came up and the matter of asking for voluntary contribution at the regattas was discussed and left over for finality. The boat owners decided to meet and discuss the question of holding another regatta before Easter. Trophies won at the last regatta were presented at the meeting by the President. i RUGBY LEAGUE. A special meeting of the management. committee of the West Coast Rugby League was held last evening, Mr J. D. Wingham presiding over a good attendance. An outline of the work of improving Wingham Park since the close of the 1930 season was given by Messrs Wingham and Anderson, the latter stating that the draining and fencing of the Park would be completed within the next, two weeks. A vote of thanks for their work in connection with the park was then pasesd to Messrs Wingham, Anderson and Harrington..

Messrs J. D. Wingham and W. Ryan were appointed to represent the West Coast Centre at a .conference of the South Island Leagues to be held in Christchurch on February 17. Mr Anderson reported that arrangements had been completed for excursion trains from Reefton and Black; ball to Rapahoe, where the annual picnic of the West Coast League will be held on Sunday, February 8. It was decided to include in the Sports programme for the picnic a cycle race, to be run under the auspices of the United Cycling Club, from the picnic ground to Brunner by way of Cobden Bridge, returning to Rapahoe by tlie Taylorville Road. Messrs W. Ryan, R. Harrington and J. Anderson were appointed to draw up a sports programme for the picnic. The offer of the Runanga Municipal Band to platat the picnic was accepted with thanks, and in view of -their past attendances at the picnic, it w'as decided that the Blackball Pipe Band be also invited to atend.
