[PEB PGESS ASSOCIATION.] LAUNCH OVERDUE. AUCKLAND, August 10. The thirty-six foot launch, Nicloa, with two brothers aboard, Alex and Ken McCallum, has been reported missing. The launch, which was leased by the two men for a fishingexcursion, left Kaiaua, near Clevedon at 4.30 last Thursday morning for Auckland, to obtain fishing gear. The launch should have reached Auckland the same afternoon. The boat was expected to call at Clevedon to get a dinghy, but it is not known whether it put in there.
TRAWLERS’ AWARD. WELLINGTON, August 11. The dispute between the Seamen’s Union and New Zealand Fisheries Ltd, was resumed in the Arbitration Court to-day. The case was partly heard at the last sittings, and referred back to the parties to see if an agreement .could be reached. For the Seamen’s Union, Mr Walsh stated that all the clauses had been agreed to except wages, and discharged ashes. For the company, Mr Bishop said the lowest paid man on trawlers earned £2S3, and the highest £317. He contended that this was adequate. Decision was reserved. THEFTS FROM CARS. WELLINGTON, August 11. Al. the Magistrate’s Court, to-day. Victor Hugh Ring, aged 45, Joseph Eric Cornish, eighteen, Marcus Leach 23, and Duncan Morton Cameron, 32, appeared on charges of thefts from motor cars. King and Cornish pleaded guilty to stealing two suit cases and contents valued at £l9 5/-. Cornish was sentenced to two years at Borstal, and King to three months’ gaol. Leach and Cameron had taken a brief bag and surgical instruments from a doctor’s car. and tried to sell the bag to a. second hand dealer. Leach was admitted to two years’ probation, and Cameron to four months’ in gaol. On a charge of stealing a suit valued at £5, Leach and Cameron were remanded to Taumarunui. Leach pleaded guilty, and Cameron not .guilty.
