. OPERA HOUSE—TO-NIGHT. Owing to requests from town and country patrons, the Opera House Management are glad to announce that they, have been successful in securing an extension of the “Sally” season for one night only. “Sally” will be presented again to-night and positively the last performance tomorrow night, Tuesday. WEDNESDAY. “Noah’s Ark,” the picture which Warner Bros, hailed as “made to top any picture ever made,” will be presented Wednesday, Thursday, and Wednesday’s matinee at 2.30. Stupendous in conception, the production was more than three years in the making, and includes over ten thousand extra characters. The characters play their parts in soul-truing moments at the. beginning of the twentieth century, and are wafted back to the days of Noah, to the building of the Ark —the dark terror of the rising waters — which' destroyed all but the family of the patriarch. Sets covering more than a square mile were necessary. Michael Curtiz, internationally famed as the director of great spectacles, directed this one. Splendid supports precede the big production. SALVATION ARMY. The Salvation Army Band gave its annual honorary members’ concert on Saturday night to a packed house, each item being well received. Mr T. B. .Baty was chairman, and in his remarks eulogised the great work of the Salvation Army. Yesterday was Band Sunday, the bandsmen taking the meetings all day. To-night they are holding a gift tree in aid of the band funds. All invited. BLAKETOWN DANCES. The Blaketown Citizens’ Hall Committee have decided to hold a monster

novelty dance on Monday, August 18. The programme will include several first-class novelties. One is called “The First on the Floor,” another “The Mysterious Mr X.” Both these dances carry valuable prizes. During the last week the hall has been painted inside, and the Committee are busy decorating. PLUNKET BALL. A dance will be held at the Town Hall on Tuesday, September 2, in aid of the Plunket Society’s funds. The committee have decided to make it a Paper Dress affair, a new idea as far as Greymouth is concerned, and this should assure a good attendance. Prizes are to be given for the prettiest and for the most original dresses. An energetic committee have arrangements well in hand. An excellent supper will be provided, and gallery accommodation -will ’be available to those who wish to look on at the dance.

ENTERTAINMENT DANCE.

A grand complimentary dance will be held on Wednesday night in the Oddfellows’ Hall, to greet teams from Waiuta, Blackball, Brunner, Runanga, Kokatahi, United, Mawhera and Stars. Seven-a-side hockey tournament will be at Victoria Park Wednesday afternoon. A first class novelty will be arranged for the visitors, and valuable prizes awarded the winners. Steel’s full orchestra.
