A MIDNIGHT RAID.
[BY CABLE —PBESS ASSN.—COPYBIGHT.]
(Recd. August 11, 10 a.m.) SYDNEY, August 11.
There was a daring hold, up in the suburb of Newton. Two masked bandits jumped on a crowded bus about midnight, and at revolver point, bailed up the driver and conductor, at the same time ordering the passengers to keep their seats. The driver, James Rowe, was commanded not to stop the vehicle.
The conductor, Edward Burns, was forced to relinquish his bag containing about £l5. Meantime, the passengers were in a panic, two women fainting. While the bus was still in motion, the robbers leaped clear and got away.
