The “Central News Agency’s” Rome correspondent says that the condition Of the Pope’s health is giving anxiety. His doctor visits him twice daily, but the Pope 7 , has thus far refused to undergo an operation, which the physicians consider to be necessary.

Mr Clive R. Rollinson, of Timaru, ■was appointed by the Greymouth School Committee last evening to the position on the Main School staff rendered vacant by the resignation of Mr A. G. Williams. He will commence duties at an early date.

The wedding took place on Thursday at St. Andrew’s Church, Westport, of Mr Hector Scandrett, eldest son of Mr and Mrs Scandrett, and Mary Latimer Clilland, , youngest daughter of Thomas Clilland, of Harts Hill, Lanarkshire. Miss Helena Scandrett was bridesmaid, and Mr Reginald Burns Scandrett acted as best man. The officiating minister was Rev. Alexander Miller.
