Sir Thomas Sidey entered the Bowen Street Hospital, Wellington, several days ago, and underwent an operation. The operation proved a success, and he has been recuperating. However, it is not expected that he will be able to leave the hospital for at least three weeks.

The death occurred yesterday at the Westland Hospital, of Mr Thomas Hr Jones, of Ruatapu, where for the last twenty yearS'he had been an employee of Butler's sawmill. A native of Hokitika, he whs 42 years of age, and leaves five daughters and a sop. His wife died nine days ago at the Westland Hospital, after a long illness. He leaves two brothers, Charles (Hokitika); and W. (Ross), and five sisters, Mesdames Thorpe (Hokitika), Major ./(New Plymouth), Shearer (Harihari), and Misses L. and D. Jones (Wellington).
