EXCHANGE OF STUDENTS

GERMAN SUGGESTION APPROVED

[per press association.]

WELLINGTON, July 25

An exchange between „ German students and those of Victoria College is suggested in a letter from Dr. Klaus Milhnest of Berlin, received by the Victoria College Council. It was decided to reply that they had as yet no hostel, but when this had been erected they would be pleased to consider the matter favourably. The letter stated that the work of the exchange service was based on entire reciprocity. Foreign guests were given room, board, and free tuition at any German University or Technical Institute, the student paying other expenses and passage money. As soon as the student reached Germany he would be regarded as a welcome guest, and his stay made as successful and pleasant as possible. Much too little was known in Continental Universities about New Zealand, and the younger generation was very anxious to learn more about the country, and to understand better her people and ideas.

The scheme has the approval of the Professorial Board of Victoria College.
