WOMAN’S DEATH.

WELLINGTON, July 25. That the deceased died from a fractured skull, as the result of being , knocked down by a motor-car, was the coroner’s verdict in regard to the death of Miss Emily Renpie Hay, 50, at the corner of Boulcott and Willis streets on July 6. The Coroner said that he was unable to say whether it was deceased or the driver of the car, Leonie Craythorne, who was not keeping a proper lookout. DRIVER’S OFFENCES , . CHRISTCHURCH, July 25. The inaximum penalty of £lO, with costs, was imposed to-day upon Norman Wardell, for driving a. car while his license was under suspension. Mr. Mosley S.M. said that he looked upon „such an offence as one of the most serious that could occur under the Motor Vehicles Act. Wardell was also fined £2O for,driving. while in a state of intoxication, and his license was cancelled.
