ASSAULTS,ON CONSTABLE

Convicted of assault and causing grievous bodily harm to Constable Grant at Papa, Savii, on June 23 last, five Samoans were sentenced. Famittato and Taematua were each given five years, and Vaimaa, Faalu. and Kolose, each eighteen months, all hard labour.

The case was heard before Mr Luxford S.M., and four assessors. There was a suspected attempt to burn out the house of Chief Afamasaga early this morning. Only slight damage was done.
