Mrs. .1. A. McEwin is visiting Grey mouth.

Mrs. Newcombe was a visitor from Reefton for the week-end. Messrs Overton (Inspector), Coles (Education Department) and Price (Drill Instructor)’of the Nelson Education Board, were visitors to the local school last week.

Messrs C. Kerridge and G. Farmer who have been spending their holidays, in Waiuta. left on return to Feilding this morning. Mrs. Meredith and Miss B. Meredith, who have been visiting Christchurch, have returned. Miss N. Meredith has left for Ch ristchurch. Mrs. Hahn and Miss M. Becker (Ahaura) were visitors for the week-end. Miss K. Kennedy, relieving teacher at the Totara Flat School, was a visitor to Waiuta for the week-end. The Ahaura League football team played Waiuta on the local ground on Sunday last and after an interesting game Waiuta won by 12 points to 5. For Waiuta McDougall scored two tries one of which was converted by Thorne, who also kicked two penalties. For the losers Savage scored a try which Brookes converted. Thorne was the most prominent player on (he ground, he being responsible for some great work among the forwards. Others who played good games were McLennan, McDougall, Reid. Lines and McGurk for the winners and for (he losers Quinn. Brooks, Savage. Feary, Green and Becker played well. Mr. S. P. Williams was an impartial referee.

Mr. Joe Baines of the local team had the misfortune to have a small bone broken in his shoulder whilst going for a hard tackle. This injury will put him out of play for a few weeks.

On Saturday evening in the Club rooms the final of the billiard tournament for Mr. R. Bartlett’s trophy was plaved between Messrs S. P. Williams .and J. C. Rodden, the latter winning fairly’ comfortably. Mr. H. A. Ord, secretary of the club presented the prizes and congratulated each on his fine showing. Mr. J. C. Rodden suitably responded on behalf of Mr. Williams and himself.
