[our own correspondent.] Mrs F. Oakley entered the Grey River Hospital on Saturday, and underwent an operation. She is progressing favourably. Her son, Mr J. Oakley, has again had to enter, the Hospital for treatment to his leg. Mr and Mrs W. Page .leave by tomorrow’s express for .Wellington where they will embark on the Rangitata on a six months’ holiday in. Scotland. The Hospital Ball proved a great success and the secretary handed over £9O/3/6 as the proceeds from the ball. The committee, comprising tvzenty-one members, visited the hospital on Sunday last when Mr Ashton, Dr Moore and the Matron, conducted them through every department on a

course of inspection. Every member was well satisfied that the hospital had the most modern equipment, needed in any case of emergency, and now ranks as one of the finest hospitals in the Dominion. Two quoiters visited Dobson on Saturday to arrange a match with either contestant at the recent challenge match. Both felt confident that they could beat eithef of the two men, and tried to arrange the match. The coin was tossed and Mr F. White won, with the result that two games have been arranged to take place in the near future wfith D. Smith of Dobson. Numerous improvements will be carried out at the local surgery soon. The Medical Committee under the guidance of Mr P. Merton (secretary) are expecting to bring things up to first-class order. Much work has been done on the local Domain for some years, and it is with regret to learn that after the wet weather, it was found unplayable. All sports bodies have»resorted to their old playing ground at Steele’s Park, Dunollie.
