EMBASSY’S LIQUOR.

NEW YORK, June 13.

Regarding the British Embassy’s liquor supply, Senator Howell has lodged with the police a protest against the importation of liquor by foreign diplomats. The Senator has informed the Police Superintendent he believes that the open transportation of liquor through the streets constituted a violation of the dry laws.

The provincial newspaper war between the Northcliffe group and the Berry group has ended. The Northcliffe interests have now agreed not to publish their papers in Cardiff, Sheffield, and Aberdeen. >At those places the Berry group are taking over the buildings which the Northcliffe group put up. REPARATIONS LOAN NEW YORK, June 12. The Reparatins bonds were heavily oversubscribed here. The issue, which totalled 98,250 thousand dollars on the local market, was floated at ninety, and it was immediately quoted at a premium of a point and a fraction on a moderate turnover.

ART AUCTION VIENNA, June 13. The first part of the late Doctor Figdor’s art collection fetched prices that totalled £160,000. The whole collection, including fifteen thousand items, should total £BOO,OOO. MUTINEERS SENTENCED. . (Received June 14, 10 a.m.) DELHI, June 13. Very stiff sentences were imposed on the Garwhalis court-martialled, on a charge of refusing to obey orders during the Peshawar disturbances. One man was sentenced to transportation for life ,another to fifteen years’ imprisonment,- and the remaining fifteen to terms ranging from three to ten years’ rigorous imprisonment.
