MAKURA CLUB COMPETITIONS A pleasant afternoon was spent by members and friends on the Makura Croquet Club’s greens on Wednesday afternoon when the closing of the greens took place. Competitions were held. The putting was won by Mrs. Reynolds, the target shooting by Mrs. p. Hambleton, and the golf croquet by Mrs. P. Hambleton. 'The following matches have been played for the trophy • presented by Mrs. Reynolds:—lst Round: Mrs. Fogarty won by default from Mrs. Haglund ; Mrs. Davies won by default from Mrs. Hambleton. 2nd Round: Mrs. Smith won by default from Mrs. Tennent; Mrs. Fogarty won by default from Mrs. Coburn; Mrs. Hannan defeated Mrs. Davies; Miss Sheedy defeated Mrs. Scott. 3rd Round: Mrs. Smith won by default from Mrs. Fogartv; Miss Sheedy defeated Mrs. Hannan. In the final game of this competition, Mrs. Smith , won from Miss Sheedy.

Championship Doubles—First Life, Ist round Mrs. Tennent and Mrs Smith defeated Mrs. Phillips and Mrs. Reynolds; Mrs. Fogarty and Mrs. Hannan defeated Mrs. Davies and Mrs. Coburn. 2nd Round: Mrs. Tennent and Mrs. Smith defeated Mrs. Thomas and Miss Sheedy; Mrs. Whibley and Mrs. Mercer defeated Mrs. Fogarty and Mrs. Hannan. In the final of the first life Mrs. Whibley and Mrs. Mercer defeated Mrs. Tennent and Mrs. Smith. Second Life: Ist round: Mrs. Tennent and Mrs. Smith defeated Mrs. Reynolds and Mrs. Phillips; Mrs. Whibley and Mrs. Mercer defeated Mrs. Thomas and Miss Sheedy. 2nd Round: Mrs. Tennent and Mrs. Smith defeated Mrs. Hannan and Mrs. Fogarty; Mrs. Whibley and Mrs. Mercer defeated Mrs. Coburn and Mrs. Davies. In the final game of this life Mrs. Whibley and Mrs. Mercer defeated Mrs. Tennent and Mrs. Smith.
