WIZARD SMITH’S RECORD.
[PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.]
WELLINGTON, May 8.
The claim by Norman Smith to have made a ten mile’s world record in a Cadillac motor car with a RollsRoyce aero engine at the Ninety Mile Beach, North Auckland, has not been upheld by the Royal Automobile Club. “The Motor” (England) of March 11 states that the international regulations covering an attempt on any world and international class records require that all records up to ten miles shall be automatically timed by an apparatus registering to within one-tenth of a second, and, if attempted on a straightaway course, the distance shall be covered in both directions. As these conditions were not complied with, the R.A.C. is not able to submit the claim to the A.I.A.R.C. for recognition. BILLIARDS. LONDON, March 8. In the match for the billiards championship Davis has scored 5752, including a break of 2052, which is a championship record. Newman has scored 3934.
LATER. Davis 8048, including 400, 811; Newman 5080, including 3G7. 358.
WRESTLING
Ramzan Khan, the Indian wrestler, and George Walker, the Canadian champion, who met recently in Greymouth, when Walker was the victor, have been matched to meet in Wellington next Tuesday night.
