THEFT OF GELIGNITE

EXPLODED IN‘STREET. BIRKENHEAD, March 22. Henry Wainwright (23), of Vernon Avenue, Seacombe, was committed to the Liverpool Quarter Sessions for trial on a charge—heard here to-day —of breaking and entering a powder magazine and stealing 81b of gelignite valued at Bs, on March 11, belonging to the Mersey Docks and Harbour Board. A watchman said that on March 12 he found that the door of the, magazine had been forced open, and he informed the police. Constable Barber said at 10.35 on March 12, having heard a. number of loud reports, he went to the junction of Tabor Street and Demesne Street, Seacombe, -where he found that, a sub-
