Dumpleton, who has been an inmate of the Grey River Hospital, has sufficiently recovered to return to her home. , ... Mrs. Lynch, Balfour, was a visitor to Blackball for the week-end. Mrs D Burt, accompanied by her two daughters, left yesterday for a holiday visit to Christchurch. The monthly meeting of the School Committee was held in the schoolioom on Monday Evening. Present: Mr. G. W’ Nuttall (chairman), Messrs W. Weir. R. Smith, A. Robertson, T. Heyward. T. Docherty, R. Nelson, J. Buchannan, P. Rogers (secretary), and the schoolmaster Mr. A. M. Laing. Five applications for the position of caretaker were received, and Mi. T. Heyward was re-elected. The Headmaster’s report was received as satisfactory. It was resolved to join the Canterbury School Committee’s Association. The Debating Society’s weekly meetings arc proving popular, and the visit of Greymouth Trinity Club next Wednesday is arousing keen interest.
