LEAGUE FOOTBALL

WEST COAST MEETING

The general monthly meeting of the West Coast Rugby League officials was held last evening. Mr. J. D. Wingham presided, and there was a good attendance of members. Messrs L. Hunter, AV. Ryan and C. Hall wero appointed senior selectors to the West Coast Centre. Messrs E. Watson (Otago), C. Hardingham (Canterbury), and L. Hunter (West Coast) were nominated for the three positions of South Island selectors.

Mr. J. D. Wingham was nominated for the position of manager to the South Island team, and it was resolved that it bo a recommendation to Canterbury and Otago that this position bo taken each year in turn by the three centres.

The report of the Centre delegate at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Council was received as satisfactory. All clubs will be asked to nominate selectors for junior representatives in time to bo considered at the next meeting of the committee, one selector to ho nominated from the Northern and ono from the Southern division, tho management committee to add another selector when the team is being chosen. The AVaiuta Club applied for admission to the junior competition under tho jurisdiction of the Centre. Following a discussion is was resolved to point out to Waiuta that the Big Grey river was tho boundary of the West Coast Centre, and the application was held in abeyance f6r consideration at a later date. Mr. L. Martin, Moana, was elected a vice-president of the Rugby League.

G. Wright was granted a transfer from Kohinoor to Blackball seniors.

A deputation consisting of Messrs A. Naylor, J. D. Whigham, and AV. J. Larcombe was appointed to wait on tho next meeting of the Grey County Council to ask that improvements be made to the entrance leading to the rear of Whigham Park. Mr. Hogg advised that Brunner juniors were agreeable to play in tho Northern division.

JUNIOR ADVISORY BOARD. \ Mr. J. Masters presided over a meeting of tho Junior Advisory Board which was also attended by Messrs M. Buckley, J. Mcllroy, AV. Kells, A. Nelson, Bro. Tarcisius and AV. O’Neill (secretary). Mr. Masters was appointed chairman vice Mr. A. Warwick, who had resigned at the previous meeting. It was resolved to hold the usual seven-a-side boys’ tournament on June 3. The secretary reported having received a donation of a medal for the most outstanding boy on the day, playing in any of the three grades. Further donations of two medals were received from Messrs. J. D. AVingham and AV. Kells.

VISIT TO AUSTRALIA. SYDNEY, May 6. The New South Wales Rugby League Board of Control is sending £looo' to New Zealand, in order to enable the best team in the Dominion to tour Australia during the coming season. The first game against New Zealand is fixed for July 5 in Sydney.
