The Archbishop has issued a’ circular declaring that for reasons known to anybody with a spark of Christian sentiment, he condemns the newspapers “Malta Chronicle” and “Ixvemx” (meaning the sun), which is Lord Strickland’s paper, and he prohibits, under penalty of mortal sin, their reading or sale. If they continue publication in the same tenor, he. will inflict canonical penalty on the proprietors, editors, and associates.
