ENGLISH CUP SEMI-FINALS. [BY CABLE—PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.] LONDON, March 29. In the Rugby League Cup semifinals, results were: — Widnes beat Barrow by 10 to 5 at Warrington. ‘ St. Helens drew with Wigan, 5 all, at Swinton. MARIST CLUB’S MEETING. There was a big attendance of members of the Marist Brothers’ Old Boys’ Football Club yesterday, Mr W. Gieseking being in the chair. The balance sheet showed that the finances of the club were in a satisfactory state.
In his report the President congratulated the senior team upon having won the Knock-out Cup, upon their showing in the main competition, and upon the fact that the team was called upon to supply all the backs except one in a senior representative game, which reflected great credit on the standard of play maintained by the Club. The junior and other grades had acquitted themselves very well, and the third grade team visited Christchurch where they were successful in all the matches played. After referring to the visit of the Christchurch Marist team, the president urged that interchange of visits be fostered to cement the good feeling existing between the two sister clubs. Thanks were expressed to all officials for their work during the season, and reference was made to the loss sustained by the transfers of C. Robins, J. Marriott and J. O’Loughlin. The report concluded with an appeal to all to work to make the coming season the best in the history of the Club. Election of officers resulted: Patron, Rev. Father Holahan; President, Mr W. Williams; Executive, Messrs M. Kiely, M. Buckley, T. Stapleton, E. O’Brien, L. O’Neill, C. ~ Restieaux, E. Quinn. c It was left to the Committee to ap- f point the club’s delegates to the West ’ Coast Centre.
