ESCAPADE ENDS IN GAOL. NEW YORK, Febrfuary 21. The faith of Raymond Crawford, sixteen, of Los Angeles, in miracles was not shaken to-day—he blamed a lack of -yyater. An embalmed whale on exhibition at Deliver offered a cheap and safe way to return to California, Crawford thought, having Jonah in mind, probably. To-day he awakened and emerged from the whale’s mouth to see a curious throng of spectators who were as surprised as he. Instead of returning the whale to California, immediately the railroad men switched the car to a down-town siding for a. continued exhibition. Crawford, his pockets stuffed with sandwiches, was taken to the city gaol, where he was held pending word from California relatives.
