SYDNEY, March 28. A bill to reduce parliamentary and official salaries by 15 per cent, was read a first time in the Assembly. Ernest Edward Judd who claimed £lOOO damages for alleged libel against Sun Newspapers Limited was given a verdict for a farthing. The claim was based on reports and statements made during the North Sydney election campaign. Mr Judd stood for that electorate as a Nationalist. POSTAL REPORT. SYDNEY, Marell 28. The Postmaster General’s annual report reveals that money and valuables to the amount of. £180,618 were found in postal articles sent to the dead letter office as undeliverable in the 1928-29 financial year. As many as 39,434 articles were posted without addresses. Telephone figures showed substantial progress, with an average of 7.93 phones per hundred people. Australia is now sixth on the list of countries in the order of telephone density. A profit of £56,524 was shown on the year’s transactions.
