N.Z. PRODUCE

QUALITY OF BEEF. [per press association.] . WAIROA, March 27. Strong exception was taken at today’s meeting of the Farmers’ Union to the visiting farmers’ criticism of New Zealand beef, the members considering that the tour had been badly arranged, the visitors missing the finest beef producing country, and that otherwise this unfair statement would never have been made. Such untiue criticism would do great harm to the Dominion, and should be strongly refuted.

' APPLES EXHIBITION. [BY CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.] LONDON; March 26. At the opening df the apple season at New Zealand House, Mrs T. M. Wilford presented Miss Ishbel MacDonald with a basket of fruit. The latter, in accepting the fruit on behalf of her father, the Prime Minister, remarked: “If they are as good as they look, then they are marvellous. Tomorrow will see a rare occurrence. The whole MacDonald family will be dining at Downing Street, when they will share the apples.” Traders refer to the exhibition of apples as the best they have ever seen.
