DUNEDIN TOWN HALL

gift organ used. (Per Prea« Aenoolatlon.) DUNEDIN, February 16. The main chamber of Dunedin’s new Town Hall, which has seating accommodation for 3000 people, was filled to overflowing on Saturday mght on the occasion of the official opening by the Mayor, Mr. R. S. Black. It was a double event, inasmuch as Dr. W. G. Price, of Melbourne, took his scat at the console of the great gift organ for the first time officially. The function took the formof a concert by massed choirs, under the baton of Dr. V. E. Galway, and solo work by Dr. Price on the organ. The meeting accorded musical honours to Mr. and Mrs. A. S. Paterson for their £17,000 gift of the organ, after Mr. H. L. Tapley had proposed a vote of thanks. Mr. Taverner, Minister of Railways, represented the Government, and conveyed the Cabinet’s hearty congratulations.

The capacity of the great hall was again taxed to the utmost this afternoon, when Divine service was held under the auspices of the Council of Christian Congregations.
