—•— CONDITIONS OF THE OFFER.

The conditions under which, inventors of an improved method of production of commercial flax may secure a bonus of £lO,OOO from tlie Government have been framed by the Department of Agriculture, and are announced by the Minister, the Hon. G. VV. Forbes. The offer is open till November 30, 1931, and it is intended that as soon a s possible after that time, a. committee of not fewer than five—of whom two shall be New Zealand hemp millers—shall open the applications and investigate such of the machine.or jirocesses as it deems worthy of trial. The committee will make recommendations to the Government as to the payment of the bonus, having regard tc the amount of royalty, if any', specified l>v the inventor, who is required to nr dicate this point in the application. (b) A considerably greater quantity of strong white fibre per ton of green (c) A substantial reduction in th® cost of producing the fibre.
