AMUSEMENTS
OPERA HOUSE—TALKIES. Monte Blue and May McAvoy both have talking roles in the Opera House to night and to-morrow night. Blue is shown as a Western railroad man in charge of the construction of a huge bridge across a treacherous river. Dainty May McAvoy co-stars in the role of the society daughter of the railroad president, who falls in love with the burly construction engineer. The sound reproduction at the Opera House is exceptionally clear and every word spoken by the players in “No Defence” can be understood without undue straining of the ears. May McAvoy has been starred in dozens of silent pictures, but with her entry into the “talkies” it looks as though the “silents” are to lose yet another of their valuable assets.
