HOKITIKA NOTES

HOKITIKA, December 3.
The news was received yesterday of the death at Lewisham Hospital, Christchurch, of Mr Edward Cron, <?f Kokatahi. Deceased, who was a native of Okuru and 46 .years of age, had been ailing z for a long time, and had gone to Lewisham a coupl© of weeks ago to undergo an operation. He was a member of a South Westland family, and leaves a widow and three sons and one daughter, besides two brothers (Adam and John) and one sister (Mrs Cowan), all of Okuru. The body is being brought to Hokitika by to-day’s express. The death occurred at Christchurch yesterday of Mrs Phoebe Stephens, wife of Mi- Peter Stephens, of Hokitika, after a lengthy illness. The deceased, who was 50 years of age, and a native of Hokitika, was a daughter of the late Harry Levy, of Hokitika. She leaves a family of six daughters and two step-daughters, and is also survived by two sisters (Mesdames Eastwell and Hutton, both of Auckland), and four brothers, Joseph (Westport), Ralph and Lazarus (Auckland), and Alec (Wellington). The funeral takes place at Hokitika.
