BOXING
DONOVAN DEFEATS LECKIE. (Per Press Association.) ASHBURTON, November 29. There was a large attendance at the Majestic Theatre to-night to see Tommy Donovan, of Waitara, make his first South Island appearance, against Hector Leckie, of Dunedin, lightweight champion. ' Donovan entered the ring at 9.0 J, and Leckie scaled 9.2 J. Donovan won the first and second rounds, and Leckie won the third and fourth. Donovan increased his aggressiveness in the fifth round, and finally he put Leckie out for the full count with a right cross flush.
