The professional challenge golf match in which Fred 'Popplewell and Don Spence played Will Corry and Frank Eyre for £5O a-side, over 76 holes, ended to-day, the' victors being Corry and Eyre, one up. The match which was extremely exciting, was won on \the last green, when Eyre sank a seven foot putt for a win.

RUGBY FOOTBALL. Ron Stewart, famous All Black forward, should be available for the Canterbury representative ' Rugby team next year (says the Christchurch “Sun.”) Stewart left Timaru High Boys’ School in 1920, and from 1921 onwards he has represented South Canterbury in every season except when he made overseas tours with the All Blacks. He has represented New Zealand in 1923 24-25-26-28-29, these honours including the tours of Great Britain and France and of South Africa. A stockbuyer for the New Zealand Refrigerating Co., Ltd., Ron Stewart has been transferred to Leeston. He arrived from Timaru this week. Stewart probably will play for the Christchurch Club.

CRICKET. The Brunnei’ “A” team to play Stars at Dobson to-morrow will be as follows:—Thomas, Hoggarth, Kitto, Loubere, Kennedy, McNeish, Purton, Henderson, Bernard, Malloy, Cosgrove.
