PICTURES CRITICISED.

. (To-the Editor.) Sir,—The letter appearing in your paper to-night by “Child Welfare opens up a subject that should affect all parents. Pictures should be interesting, amusing and"instructive, and with the great impending transformation now offering with the addition of the actual voice reproduction, we can realise what fine results 1 in amusement and education will shortly be obtained. It is therefore quite unnecessary to pack iip a good* talkie picture with a vulgar support such as we had on Monday. It was neither clever nor amusing, and' the antics of the young lady with the large mouth did not elicit much applause. Probably the picture was overlooked by the censor. The' “Jazz Singer’’ was good, but evidently too short to fill the programme completely, hence the addition of the other pictures.—I am, etc., ABRACADABRA.
